Landers Master Bath
Best Master Bath In A Custom Home
Though small in size, this bath is full of inventive ideas. First, there's the blue circular shower that seems to rain sparkles from overhead. Architect Gary Orr fit a circular fluorescent light and chrome cover around a rain showerhead. When the water is turned on, it reflects the light that passes through the cover's pierced grille. Then there's the mystery of where the water goes once it hits the shower's slate tile floor. A tile in the center sits ungrouted over the floor drain, so that water seems to just slip out of sight.
The vanity holds its own surprises. Water is delivered via a custom water bar that arcs across the double counter. Spouts are positioned to shoot water at an angle against each blue-glass sink wall, making the water swirl as it exits the drain. Knobs on the top of a center console control water flow. The console appears to be merely a support for the vanity top, but a kick pedal on the right side pops open its front to reveal a cabinet that provides storage, electrical outlets, and water temperature controls.
More storage is tucked into the curve of the screen wall that separates bath and bedroom. Though the wood-front cabinet appears shallow, the drawers slip back into the 12-inch-thick wall.
