Project Description
Builder's Choice and Custom Home Awards Finalist
Our firm strives to create architecture that responds naturally to the unique issues and challenges presented to us. The spectacular nature of the site, set at the head of a broad valley, deserved more than a typical stylistic solution. This house is neither traditional nor modern. Its imply fits its time, place and purpose.
The house is quietly concealed by a light screen of birch trees, but still avails itself of sweeping mountain views. It conforms and flows with the shape of the land, complimenting rather than dominating its surroundings. The use of local materials and building methods reflect the culture and history of Vermont. The scope of work took full advantage of local craftsmen. Their skill can be seen in the custom handrails, brackets, balustrades, stonework, timber frame and myriad other details throughout the home. While utterly unique, it is still utterly Vermont.
