Project Description
Winner of three prestigious awards
VCU Brandcenter wanted to promote practical applications in a very open, collaborative environment that simulates real-life ad agency conditions and would expand the graduate school’s advertising, media and communications functions from an historic, three-story brick carriage house.
The intent was to design the new addition in such a way that it would harmonize with the old but also add new, supplementary services and technology. As the architect of record, Baskervill collaborated with Clive Wilkinson Architects to execute the renovation and expansion of this project. The historic brick building provides the main teaching space and is complemented by a new, additional building that provides modern facilities and additional classroom and meeting space, including seismic bracing of the old building. At 32,000 square feet, the final space fosters collaboration and interaction, and serves as a beautiful addition to campus.
