FBI's Chicago Regional Office Earns LEED Platinum

For the past decade, USAA Real Estate Co., San Antonio, has managed its portfolio of more than $4.9 billion in assets with energy efficiency in mind. But the seven-time recipient of the Washington, D.C.-based U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star Partner of the Year award decided to expand its efforts to include LEED certification from the Washington-based U.S. Green Building Council. In the fall of 2006, the company, which specializes in office, medical-office, industrial, public-sector, retail, multifamily and hotel properties, became one of the first participants in the pilot for LEED for Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance. Codding Builds Mixed-use Development

Codding Enterprises of Rohnert Park, Calif., is getting back into residential development in a big way. The shopping center-centric company, which boasts turn-of-the-century home builder roots, is manning a 10-year build-out of Sonoma Mountain Village, a $1 billion multiuse project to include 1,900 housing units and 750,000 square feet of retail space. Helping to power the community is a 90,000 square foot array of solar panels, the largest private installation to date in the state of California. More
