Architectural Testing Inc (ATI) has announced the creation of its Commercial InstallationMasters Program, an installer training and certification program for the installers of windows and doors rated for commercial, industrial, large multi-family, and institutional buildings.
The program is similar to ATI’s residential InstallationMasters program, and was developed and sponsored by the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA). It is based on the AAMA IPCB-08, Standard Practice for the Installation of Windows and Doors in Commercial Buildings. The standard addresses the installation of aluminum windows and doors in punched openings, including specialty shaped, horizontal ribbon, and vertical stack openings for both new construction and replacement projects.
Program participants can choose from four levels of participation. Accredited instructor certification is available to people with five years industry experience and requires a four-day instructors course. Certified installer designation is available to installers with at lease five years of installation experience and requires a two-day class. Installation company certification designation is for installation companies that employ at least one certified installer and have a documents quality control system that meets program requirements. Non-certification participant designation is available for installers lacking the experience required above. Most of the courses require an exam, after which participants are given photo ID certification credentials. Certified installers also may choose to include their names on a web-based listing of certified installers.
