Carrier Corp has launched version 4.5 of its Hourly Analysis Program software for building energy analysis and system design. The new system can configure a complete energy analysis for sustainable, high-performance buildings in a matter of minutes, according to Carrier.
The new version addresses LEED energy and atmosphere credit 1 (EAc1) analysis and schematic design energy analysis. Features include automatic determination of ASHRAE 90.1 minimum required equipment efficiencies, and software wizards for creating weather data and utility rates. When using HAP, a “wizard” guides users through the creation of an energy model, asking a short series of questions and then filling in details though intelligent defaulting. Users can select weather data, creating a building thermal model, configure HVAC equipment scenarios, and input utility rates. These four elements can then be tied together.
