The City of Lyon, France invites artists and designers from around the world to submit installation proposals for the 2018 edition of the annual light festival Fête des Lumières. The Call for Projects focuses on two types of project installations: the Grands Projets and Emergence.

Installations selected for the Grands Projets will be on view in the city’s major public spaces, such as the Saint-Jean Cathedral or the Place Louis Pradel, the city hall square. Entry submissions for the Grands Projets are considered as public procurement contracts by the City of Lyon. The complete list of locations and the official offers are published on the City of Lyon’s dedicated website. Download the official call for tender in English.

The Emergence program is geared toward up-and-coming artists and emerging talents. The festival organizers seek “…installations or animations that induce participation, conviviality, surprise, and a festive spirit… [and] use city spaces as creative laboratories.” The Call for Projects for Emergence is available on request by email using the following address: [email protected].

The deadline for Grand Project proposals is Thursday May 3, 2018, noon (Paris time).
The deadline for Emergence proposals is Saturday May 14, 2018.

Project proposals can be submitted in three different ways:

  1. Deliver in person and to the “Direction de la Commande Publique” 10 quai Jean Moulin 69001, Lyon; open from Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
  2. Send by registered post with acknowledgement of receipt, or by a courier service. The time of receipt by the City of Lyon is the governing acknowledged time, not the postmark date and time. Be mindful of public holidays, which may cause postal delays.
  3. By electronic transmission. Please note that this does not simply involve sending your file by email. Follow all instructions for provision of and upload of required materials on the City of Lyon public tender website.
