Incorporating recycled materials into a project is nothing new for the Solar Decathlon. However, Nest Home by Missouri University of Science and Technology reused locally collected refuse—shipping containers, shipping pallets, fishing nets, denim, and even fruit picker baskets—wherever possible, drawing inspiration from the way a bird scavenges to build its nest.
