Project Description
The Project is the same site where the tragic explosion of August 4 , 2020 occurred in Beirut. In Memory of the lives lost , and in the sprit of rebuilding Beirut into an equitable 21st century sea port city , our proposal reimagines the 2.1 million sq. m parcel as a New Spine of cultural , economic and accommodation hub for the city . It is a place to gather with 'Trust' of one another, secure and welcoming. It is a place where commerce thrives. It is a place where diverse culture is celebrated. It is a place where science , education , music & performing art has a home. In other words it is a place to live _ a place to Thrive conflict free !
Architecture of Landmark hotel: The Landmark Hotel (Phase 02) would rival the most luxurious hotels in the world . It sits right on the water with extraordinary views of the sea and Beirut. But the most iconic feature of the hotel is its profile itself. Inspired by the sails of a boat , the landmark Hotel sports a very unique maritime look. The genesis of the building is driven by an algorithmic script that creates a structure out of torque of the building. This torque in the structure is used to counter the cantilever of the sail mass of the tower.
Architecture of the Towers: The Iconic ‘A’ Frame Office and Residential Towers are the anchor of the 1st phase of the Phoenix Development. The residential towers are visually arresting yet without being an eye candy architecture. The inclined glowing mass within the morphology of the towers creates an unifying element for the tower clusters. The emphatic red suspended inclined mass of the ‘A’ frame tower hovers over the new water way as if defying gravity. The iconic ‘A’ frame straddles over the connecting water way to the harbor beyond, thus becoming literally the ‘Gateway’ of Beirut.
