Project Description

At the former Athlete’s Village, Get Living London unveiled an alfresco ‘Living Room’ for East Village at the front of its Welcome Office. The scheme, in partnership with The Edible Bus Stop®, saw huge wooden furniture, such as oversized wooden armchairs and sofas brought to the area and surrounded by enormous orange plant pots in which fig trees and vines have been planted. The furniture is made from Kebony wood, a Norwegian sustainable alternative to tropical hardwood.

The striking installation will act as a contemporary village green – a place to interact and grow with the community and follows the planting of the first edible postcode ‘#MyE20’. The postcode planters full of herbs were installed during a community planting day, with the herbs now ready for East Village residents to pick for their evening meals or summer cocktails.
