The NAHB will host its annual National Green Building Conference in Raleigh, N.C., in May, starting with one- and two-day intensive educational sessions that run May 13 through 15, including new Master Certified Green Professional and Advanced Building Science courses. The full conference kicks off on May 16 with a green home tour organized by the Durham Home Builders Association and continues through May 18 with a range of educational seminars, all-day “GreenTensive” sessions, and product exhibits.

Included in this year’s educational programming are workshops that will cover the ANSI National Green Building Standard, water efficiency, appraisals and lending, green remodeling case studies, third-party product certifications, quality management, sustainable development, marketing, 2011 Energy Star Qualified Homes specs, multifamily projects, the DOE’s Builders Challenge program, and more (see full list, right). The tour will stop at six homes, including an affordable workforce housing project certified under the Energy Star, LEED for Homes, and North Carolina HealthyBuilt programs; an NAHB Silver-certified high-end green remodel; a 2,130-square-foot $159,000 new home that’s ANSI and Energy Star certified; side-by-side ANSI-Gold, Energy Star–rated homes with indoor air quality features; an ANSI-Silver custom luxury home with a full complement of energy-efficient features and systems; and an NAHB-Silver home featuring high-performance HVAC components and water-conserving measures including a rainwater harvesting system.

On Monday evening, May 17, NAHB will host its annual Green Building Awards Dinner honoring the year’s best residential green projects as well as green building advocates from across the country.
