The Architectural League of New York has announced the winners of the 2013 Emerging Voices awards. Selected in a juried portfolio review competition, the eight emerging practitioners were selected for their breadth of work and their ability to create a impact across architecture, landscape architecture and urbanism. Firms and individuals can hail from the U.S., Canada, or Mexico, and the jury—which, this year, included Henry Cobb, FAIA; Paul Lewis, AIA; Kate Orff; Thomas de Monchaux; Annabelle Selldorf, FAIA; and Adam Yarinsky, FAIA—aims to select a group that represents the diversity of the current state of the industry.

This year’s laureates include Andy Cao and Xavier Perrot of Cao | Perrot Studio in Los Angeles and Paris; Jules Dingle, Jeff Goldstein, Mark Sanderson, and Jamie Unkefer of DIGSAU in Philadelphia; Susannah Drake of Dlandstudio in New York; Jorge Gracia of Graciastudio in Tijuana, Mexico and San Diego, Calif.; Sierra Bainbridge, Michael Murphy, Alan Ricks, and David Saladnik of MASS DesignGroup in Boston and Kigali, Rwanda; Luke Ogrydziak and Zoë Prillinger of Ogrydziak Prillinger Architects in San Francisco; Carlos Bedoya, Wonne Ickx, Victor Jaime, and Abel Perles of Productora in Mexico City, Mexico; and Florian Idenburg and Jing Liu of SO-IL in New York.

The Laureates will present their work at a series of lectures in March at the Scholastic Auditorium in New York, and the Architectural League will present a series of online features beginning in April. The Emerging Voices program, which has been overseen by League program director Anne Rieselbach since 1986, is seen as a bellwether for the next big names in the design industry. Previous winners include this year’s jurors Lewis and Yarinski, as well as Steven Holl , FAIA, Jeanne Gang , FAIA, SHoP Architects , Brad Cloepfil of Allied Works Architecture , and the firm of this year’s AIA Gold Medalist Thom Mayne , Morphosis.
