Yesterday, the Screen Actors Guild Foundation (SAG) announced the groundbreaking of its Actors Center in New York City. Located on the ground floor of 247 West 54th Street, it is a collaboration between two New York City-based firms: Rogers Partners Architects+Urban Designers and Fisher Dachs Associates. The firms have worked on projects together before, like the Henderson-Hopkins School in Baltimore, MD.
The 4,000-square-foot, 158-seat theater will be used for screenings, performances, and educational programs, and will house the final components of the SAG Foundation's Actors Center, which supports over 35,000 members in the region. This groundbreaking marks the second phase of a building program that enables the SAG Foundation to have a long-lasting home in Manhattan for its expansive selection of free programs.
