Firm Description

Carly Coulson, AIA, LEED AP, is the Owner and Design Principal of the architecture firm COULSON. Design excellence and environmental performance have been her focus since her first job at Foster + Partners developing the design of the Swiss Re Tower in London 20 years ago, to her role as leading architect of the first LEED Platinum, Passive House, and AIA COTE Top Ten project in Minnesota – the Bagley Classroom. She has received numerous awards for design excellence and green building including AIA Honor Awards, RADA Residential Architect, Chicago Athenaeum Green Good Design, and Good Design is Good Business. COULSON is an AIA 2030 Signatory Firm. All of their work meets the 2030 Challenge with an average energy reduction of 89% and the Passive House Standard thru the Passive House Institute in Germany. The passive approach allows the firm to make green building elements very quiet, almost invisible, so the occupant’s focus is on the spatial experience, views, and poetry of place.
