Today, global firm DLR Group and Washington, D.C.–based Sorg Architects announced plans to join operations and name the D.C. studio DLR Group | Sorg. In maintaining firm leadership, Sorg Architects founding principal Suman Sorg, FAIA, will continue to lead design for the D.C. location, while director of marketing and communications Nikki Sorg will manage operations, and Sorg Architects' principal Rachel Chung, AIA, will head the design studio. The firms will integrate operations by the end of DLR Group’s fiscal year in September.

The addition of Sorg Architects, a 29 year-old firm with a design staff of 30, will give DLR a presence in Washington, D.C., and allow it to expand its reach into sectors such as civic, federal government, higher education, hospitality, multifamily housing, and workplace markets. In joining DLR, Sorg Architects broadens its international presence with DLR’s 21 global locations, and diversifies its service offerings to provide integrated planning, engineering, interiors, and energy services in-house.
Sorg Architects' second location in New Delhi is not part of the deal and will remain separate from the merger.
