Project Description
FROM SPARC DESIGN:
The steep, challenging site suggested a multi-level house with a compact footprint to disturb the natural environment as little as possible. It’s built on a partial basement and follows the natural slope, with a suspended parking platform at the top of the site. The open kitchen-dining-living space is sunken below the primary entrance to provide privacy from a nearby condo complex. Inside, however, the house opens up to a two-story volume. The owners wanted their home to have a retreat-like ambience so the design emphasizes indoor-outdoor living: Exterior decks face sunset views of the mountain views and downtown Asheville and an abundance of floor-to-ceiling glass doors that open the interior to the outdoors.
