Project Description
The property was purchased by the owner as part of a estate sale. The original house had been vacant for many years but it was located on a beautiful 20ac property on the water. The property is within a 100 yr flood plane and part of a critical zone as designated by the state of Maryland. The original house and a second adjacent partially built, unfinished structure were built into a steeply sloping portion on the site.
Because the property is environmentally sensitive and because the building structures were sound, the decision was made to transform the 1950's house within the existing footprint and to keep the exterior walls and openings intact. The original house and secondary unfinished structure was approximately 4500sf. The renovations extended the structures vertically by one story and increased the footprint and coverage by appoximately 450sf.
