Driven by continued global expansion, Japanese pharmaceutical company, Astellas Pharma, recently built a new 420,000 square foot state-of-the-art North American headquarters located in Glenview, Illinois. The design objective was to create a building that showcases Astellas' rich culture while enabling an entrepreneurial and interactive environment for employees and consultants, in the pursuit of life saving pharmaceuticals.

The new facility consists of two seven-story office towers connected at ground level by a shared lobby and reception space. It houses 1,800 employees including the company's research and development, corporate administration, sales and marketing departments.

The building lobby offers expansive views of the site and provides a grand reception experience for clients and employees alike.
A 20,000 square foot, two-story conference center is located adjacent to the lobby for direct visitor access. The conference center contains a cantilevered staircase for movement between the two levels. The adjacent "Astellas heritage wall" is a graphic interpretation that delineates the company's legacy and future, and is a focal point within the conference center space.

Additional amenities include a full-service cafeteria with 20' high acoustically treated ceilings, bamboo planters, and seating for up to 260 people, plus an adjacent outdoor terrace for al fresco dining.
