Project Description
This new Wall Street apartment epitomizes loft living as the new modern interior is carefully designed to fit within the more industrial aesthetic of the existing building’s structure. The industrial roots of the space were retained to allow for expansive beams and high ceilings to accentuate the living spaces below. Bold accents of white marble and backpainted glass brighten the interior, while warmer hues of grey lacquer and hints of wood create a welcome feeling of warmth for the home.
The primary focus in planning was on decluttering the existing layout and re-centering the space around an open living space. This main living area features an open kitchen with a waterfall island and custom lighting, and a generously sized living room with a dynamic custom media unit. Brushed stainless steel plates clad a linear bio-ethanol fireplace, immediately adjacent to the carefully articulated media wall, where small niches provide an opportunity for storage and display.
To further enhance the plan layout, flexible living space was added as a connection to the living room, with two sets of sliding glass doors creating the opportunity to open or close the area into a variation of different room sizes and types. The space can be fully connected to the main living area and act as an extension of the living room, while it can just as easily create a large private work space by closing off one or both of the sliding panels.
