Project Description
Sited in downtown Anchorage, the Downtown Soup Kitchen (DSK) designedly enters into the consideration of the city’s homeless population, a majority of which are Native Alaskans, displaced from villages and finding harsh realities in the metropolitan. Thus, the challenge is dualistic: urban/rural, displaced/rooted, protected/exposed, bounty/need, give/take. Rather than downplay its mission, this non-profit celebrates diversity, bridging gaps that encourage participation not exclusion.
