Project Description
SSA won the project at a National level open Competition and were appointed by their client, DTTDC to develop proposals for a tourism destination at two sites, Chhawla (3 acres) & Kanganheri (12 acres) and the intervening water canal in New Delhii, India.
Both the sites had unique natural attributes, such as a dense tree cover and an indigenous bird population that offered immense opportunity for the development as a destination for eco- tourism .
To preserve and enhance the natural environment of the sites, SSAs design focused on environment friendly leisure activities like soft adventure recreations for children, naturopathy and healing for older people & live demonstrations of arts & crafts. A unique magical hot air balloon ride was an added attraction. The landscape follows the local ecological patterns and creates a verdant setting for the architecture.
The two sites are interconnected through an exciting boat ride. A unique boardwalk elevated 2.5m off the ground is used to connect the various features at Chhawla like fishing jetties, tree top machaan camps, an elephant bath and a sunset restaurant.
