Officinaleonardo imagined a prototype of a miniaturized city in a vertical position. Here, at least contrary to what traditionally happens in the old American skyscrapers, we designed real multiple height squares within the body of the tower multiplying what we have at ground level. So also at the middel levels of the towers, will be possible for users / people / citizens to live in an urban space also higher, allowing new views of the city. Officinaleonardo offers a view of his idea of movement and dynamism, a vision en mouvement of the city, from an high level (30-40 mt. above the ground) exploiting linear paths sometimes open to the outside or in other parts characterized by thin connecting bridges always reflecting images of surrounding through the massive use of transparency and glazing. This is basically an architectural promenade who permit the reading of the architectural features within the complex and allows the antiperspectival view of the modern city, with its arrays, lineups and rationalists grids as well as its emergencies. A stylistic and formal experimentation and technological innovation in a context that was and is returning protagonist of change.So while at levels 1, 2, 3, 4 of the towers we will have spaces for shops, food courts, bars and pubs, shopping malls and professional activities, at levels 10, 11 and 12 in a couple of towers, we’d like to put some “rare” functions: art galleries, cultural spaces, a modern fitness center with pool and spa-bath, a multiplex theatre and halls and lobbies of 3, 4 5 stars hotels as programmed. Of course there are a number of shops and restaurants, but of a different kind compared with those provided in the lower levels. It will be interesting here be part of a pedestrian traffic flows, with the people curious eyes, ranging from the translucent interiors surfaces to translucent exterior EUR facades, from vertical perspectives to the roof gardens up to the slender connecting bridges. Green areas deserve a separate chapter, they provided a series of hanging gardens and greenhouses, which are also obtained from cutting floor slabs where trees will allow a relaxing break or simply a heat exchange and oxygenation with the interior; in the specific case of spiruline algae there will be an interesting urban experiment, a CO2 absorber and oxygen producer in front of an unusual aesthetic of aquatic plant. The division, our study has shown in the pictograms, illustrates another peculiarity of the towers in clear contradiction with what mentioned in the guide lines: a functional mix between horizontal and vertical, the suggestive image of overlapped layers, roads with shops, restaurants, hotels, houses, empty and full, sculptures and trees. So in the three towers we will have some of these functions equally arranged, adding the horizontal and vertical paths allowed by escalators and glass lifts. What Officinaleonardo / we called “horizontal tower”, is the long 4 levels building, it will be a directional / residential unit, a tribute to Le Corbusier in Marseille because his green roof, playgrounds, games for kids, an outdoor swimming pool, an old age pensioners club, and a cinema. On the opposite corner, the big squared shopping mall has an evanescent roof garden that runs inside it, a natural green fading of not-native species, permitted by the generous climate of Rome The effect of mass and wind screening is amplified by the use of degrading wooden planks. A sort of experimental micro climate who gives to a social practice, such as shopping, a more comfortable and less claustrophobic nature. Concerning the technological side we designed a special tower, a “Vertical Cloud”, an ironic and iconic recall to the presence of the famous large urban structure. A special textile skin, will change form transparence to translucence, perforated in some parts leaving space for vertical gardens, it will be a kind of membrane that breathes, governed by a series of horizontal struts tires that allow a formal variation, according temperatures and season: it will expand in the winter creating a greenhouse effect and maximizing the effect of the algae greenhouses; it will contract during summer opening motorized windows and allowing the characteristic bioclimatic summer breath and implemented the function of wind tower. The observation deck here will be higher than the others, partially covered by the same plastic surface. Its shape and its orientation are related to the summer winds flowing it the city, west wind above all. The “cloud” or “sail” as you want to define, also works like an urban communicator, allowing a real-distance communication of facts or events, such as the same events planned in the Fuksas Cloud, who can only communicate to those who are already inside the structure. These planks will also absolve an”eco-friendly” job, offering rest to the birds roosted on a series of horizontal elements projected to the void. Considering the planks size, they will be coated with a special nanotechnological, multi-material film, guano produced by the birds will not fall down, it will be chemically transformed, by sun or rain, into harmless and odorless compounds. The effect will be a friendly and benevolent attitude towards urban fauna, marrying a more integral and real ecological meaning of the three towers. It will be so romantic admire the flight of starlings during spring, hovering around the tower elected as their residence. In the Framed Tower instead, the structure is composed by pre-assembled steel elements of different size and coloring in order to give always different reflections and images. The different frames include many sections of photocromic glass so that you can increase the range of feelings of wellness perceived by guests within as well as the three-dimensional depth of the entire volume. This pattern will become an aphorism about the Eur’s rationalist scheme, roads, proportions, geometry of facades and squares of the ’50s.
