Project Description
Buenos Aires will host the 2023 Universal Exposition, for the first time since 1851 a Latin American country will host. The event will last three months January – April 2023 dedicated as a theme to the Creative Industries in the Digital Convergence.
The Exposition will take place is located on an urban border between the Province and the City of Buenos Aires, crossed by the ring road that separates 2 social realities.
We propose an Integral System of Metropolitan Parks that will link the Bridge as an Urban Symbol and the Innovation Boulevard for EXPO 2023 with its own Ecological Reserve, integrating and revitalizing in its entirety a degraded sector of the city and being able to merge through a new forest and public landscape the Federal Capital and the Province of Buenos Aires.
The great Pedestrian Bridge establishes an urban symbol of link between the City and the Province of Buenos Aires: “Conceptually it is two pieces embedded in the form of C. Perceptually there is a displacement of the Province towards the City and the City in the Province”. And in the center the physical and symbolic integration of both occurs.
The Boulevard of Innovation, concentrates the main activities of Expo 2023 and consists of several systems: of public squares that propose thematic variety and human scale; of topographic folds that house the new permanent programs; of ephemeral programs dispersed along the axis; and by a shadow system composed of natural and artificial elements.
In the Legacy Stage, it is proposed to consolidate a large Biodiversity Park – Campus of Creativity, whose scale will turn it into a new metropolitan green lung, making it the great natural legacy of Expo 2023.
We propose the concept of Biome as a definition of plant typologies, scales, textures that apply to each unit or sector determined by the urban integration proposal. Reintroduction of species of beneficial flora and fauna as a practice of environmental rehabilitation.
The Boulevard will be transformed into a Sequential Landscape of Squares / Quadrants integrating the various Biomes of the world. Each country will contribute landscapers of the International Exhibition composing with elements of its own culture and tradition, the plant species of each Biome that will endow each quadrant with landscape character and identity.
