Project Description
This new house brings subtly changed proportions, simple details and fine materials together to create this fresh traditional house. The brick walls were rendered with a pigmented cement wash which subverts the brick texture and adds patina. The mahogany windows and doors were bleached inside and out creating a similar aged effect. The roof is black slate. Simple wrought iron pergolas and rails complete the exterior. The plan is simple and clear, formal spaces are in front and less so ones at the rear. The entry axis runs under the curved stair and culminates in the jewel box sun room surrounded on three sides by garden. Interior finishes include natural white oak floors with a flat, dry looking finish and off-white Venetian plaster walls. Daylight floods the interior through oversized glass panes in both doors and windows.
