Designated as Houston’s “front door” for visiting dignitaries and business leaders, the Greater Houston Partnership is connected by a sky bridge to the George R. Brown Convention Center in Downtown Houston, sits across the street from the new Marriott Marquis Hotel and is steps away from Discovery Green, Minute Maid Park and the BBVA Compass Stadium. The new interiors office space, on the ninth and tenth floors of the new Partnership Tower, builds a memorable experience for visitors as an introduction to Houston and features 13,000 square feet of receiving and convening space, a 2,000 square foot terrace overlooking Discovery Green and a private VIP suite. Serving as a gateway to Houston, business leaders are able to see a 360 degree view of the city. The project also incorporates the latest in technology, innovative design ideas (Houston’s first “Instagram wall”) and leaves a lasting, positive impression on not just a national, but global scale.
Every feature of the project is a tribute to Houston. A 27-foot interactive video wall featuring Houston and the many initiatives and activities of The Partnership greets visitors as they enter the space. In addition, a 92-foot magnetic interchangeable photo mural (dubbed Houston’s first “Instagram Wall”) takes you from the elevator lobby down the hall that serves as a pre-function space for a state of the art conference center. The entire public space can be converted from work, to banquet, to party space by moving what are typically fixed elements in the reception area as well as a variety of different furniture arrangements in the conference space. Other “Houston” features include 3 internally lit bronze “lanterns” that feature 6 maps of Houston’s iconic bayous. Finishes and textures evoke Houston themes such as the geometric and geologic shapes in the ceiling, carpet, and wallcoverings that are a nod to our science and technology markets. Pecan is used throughout, a native tree to Houston, and warm metals and leather evoke our industrial and Texas roots. Special lighting is installed just outside of the VIP meeting area and lounge to accommodate photos with visiting and local dignitaries. The back of house office space promotes the ideal amount of collaboration both within the open work plan, various open collaboration areas, conference rooms, and private offices. All of the private offices are “inboard” next to the building core, allowing the open work environment to be along the glass with maximum daylight and views to the most people.
