Project Description
The Kangde Towers are located in the city of Chongqing, the largest megalopolis of Southwest China. The city’s urban core is at the convergence of the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers. It is here, in Jiefangbei, a vital central business and commercial area,on the highest elevation, that the pair of high-rise towers will reside.
The Kangde Center boasts a maximum density totaling 131,000 sq. meters. The 46 and 54-story towers rise to 286 meters and are connected at the base with a 7-story building that serves as a plinth. Hotels, residential units and office space occupy the tower buildings with commercial and retail at the lower levels. 18 floors of subterranean parking are provided.
The city grids are translated into the diagrid fenestration of the buildings becoming a three dimensional representation of the city.
The lower levels of the building respond to various local conditions and are prominently integrated into the urban fabric of the vital city center. Seen from afar, the towers have a dynamic, iconic presence within Chongqing’s city skyline
