Project Description
Located in the emerging Habjeong district of downtown Seoul, directly adjacent to the main metro station, Mecenatpolis is a new model of urban transit-oriented community. The project features three high-rise modern residential towers that include over 160,000 sqm of luxury units and one class-A office tower with nearly 50,000 sqm of creative work space, soaring above a contemporary open-air retail and entertainment village with intricately weaved pedestrian spaces, landscape and plazas. The open-air public realm comprises approximately 90,000sqm GFA of leisure, dining and entertainment, as well as an events auditorium and public park for local recreational and cultural activities. The new district provides a cohesive gathering place for the resurging neighborhood’s diverse community of business professionals, residents, university students, and tourists. Artwork from local students is regularly displayed in the plazas and park. A highlight of the property is the large green park incorporated into the development since green space was noticeably absent from the area. An important priority for the project team was to create an urban park integrated through Mecenatpolis that would give people a place to walk, sit and read, and take a break from the busy city within an urban oasis. The project seeks to keep the pedestrian realm authentic to the culture of Seoul and give people something they can use and enjoy to enhance quality of life. Terraced balconies, glass bridges, landscaped roof gardens, and mesmerizing forms all further reinforce the idea of a fluid and choreographed system of social activity and a ‘complete community.’
