Project Description
This new Acute Care Tower provides an updated image for Mission Hospital, redefining the hospital as the most technologically advanced facility in the community. The four-story Tower is prominently sited at the front of the campus, creating a new visibility and identity. It is connected to the existing hospital with a 175-foot pedestrian bridge. Exterior metal cladding and the exposed braced frame convey a sense of the state-of-the-art services contained within. The project brings to Mission Hospital next generation innovations in healthcare, including an MRI suite, CT scanner and nuclear medicine. Patient capacity is also increased with 28 medical/surgical beds and 20 ICU beds.
Patient-centered design features private rooms with ample space for family members. Large windows with extensive glazing offer abundant natural light throughout the building, promoting a healing environment, and enhanced work atmosphere for staff. Representing the spiritual values of the client, an all-faith chapel and healing garden are located at the entrance. The uniquely cylinder shaped chapel is topped with a suspended glass ceiling that creates an dramatic display of light throughout the day.
Extensive site work, landscape and hardscape were also completed to create 350 parking stalls.
