Project Description
Located in the Santa Barbara foothills above a reservoir, this residence offers commanding, 180-degree views of the city and ocean below. To maximize these vistas, the home is laid out along a sweeping curve with expansive glass providing uninterrupted views.
A series of guest rooms, the master suite and back-of-house elements act as bookends for a double-volume central pavilion containing the kitchen, living and dining rooms. The central living area connects to the outdoor terrace and infinity-edge pool through large, curved sliding doors; the view always the centerpiece. The house takes advantage of the natural topography by tucking the garage, wine cellar and mechanical spaces into the hillside, thus creating a low overall profile. A mono-slope roof follows the curve, reducing further any visual distraction. The carefully curated palette of stucco, steel and dark concrete in hushed earth tones completes the home’s connectivity to its environment.
