Project Description
Located in the hills of the Fryman Canyon Estates area in Studio City, the Oakdell Residence is a remodel and an addition to an existing 1960’s mid-century home. The home’s original open floor plan was re-established to create open space throughout maximizing views of the surrounding landscape. Floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding glass doors blur the lines between indoor-outdoor living, bringing in ample light and extending the living area outside the house and into the landscape. An addition consisting of a master bedroom and office was integrated into the hillside to take advantage of the home’s canyon site. A simple, elegant palette of materials was used to echo the qualities of the existing home and to preserve its original spirit and character.
Oakdell Residence was a recipient of the 2017 AIA|LA Residential Architecture Honor Award.
