Elena Dobrovolska and DreamDesign studio designed an apartment in the historical quarters of Kyiv for a family that travels a lot and actively participates in cultural life. In order to match the interior to the owners, the studio, first of all, took into account the cosmopolitical way of life and stylistic preferences of the client. Luckily, the general understanding of the project was the same for the authors and the customers, so it was possible to concentrate not on looking for compromises, but on creating a memorable and comfortable atmosphere.

The studio’s signature style can be noticed in the project immediately: artistic atmosphere, bold but balanced colors, and elegant decisions that don’t contradict the modern pace of life.

The interior is not overloaded with objects, there are exactly enough of them for a comfortable life and visual balance in the environment. The main point is put on complex color solutions, tactile textures, and timeless natural materials. The interior has many elements made of natural wood and stone that are pleasant to contact in everyday life. The apartment has a spacious living room, a kitchen and dining room area, a bedroom for the owners with a wardrobe area and a separate toilet, and room for guests/nursery with a bathroom and a wardrobe area, as well as a hall and a toilet for guests.

In the living room, the bright furniture stands out against the pastel walls: a sofa by Flexform and sophisticated blue shades couch and an expressive scarlet armchair by Poltrona Frau. The geometric shape and vertical direction of shelves and minimalist sliding elements are balanced by the flowing shapes of upholstered furniture and tactile textile. An extravagant Herling Berlin chandelier draws and holds attention, and the design is visually completed by a Promemoria floor lamp and a picture by Ukrainian artist Oleg Tistol.

Three-meter sliding doors between the hall and the living room visually unite the space and let the light come through. They were made according to the studio’s designs. DreamDesign designers also developed wall panels covered with British fabric wallpaper and built-in furniture in different parts of the apartment.

The kitchen is designed in minimalistic aesthetics. The atmosphere here is created by strict expressive wooden facades by Bulthaup and a massive stone element with mesmerizingly beautiful texture.

In the bedroom, the main color element that unites all objects together is a wall with colorful textile wallpaper. And an impressive Verpan chandelier (designed by Verner Panton) with mother of pearl plates on thin flowing suspensions completes the design.

The bathrooms in the apartment are worth a separate word. The bathroom of the owners is designed in warm cognac and honey shades. The elegant room is decorated by an unusual panel with an image of Buddha, a work of a Portuguese designer Alex Turco.

In the second, white bathroom the visually dominating element is a stone wall with a beautiful large picture in blue shades.
