Project Description
Sited at the SE corner of Rogers Road and Riverfront Drive on a small triangular piece of under utilized property, the Rogers Road Pavilion (now known as celebrity chef, Tim Love’s Woodshed Smokehouse) provides an idyllic setting to enjoy the serenity along the banks of the Trinity River. Located just south of the University Park shopping center along the Trinity Trails system, and offering access to a variety of amenities, makes the Rogers Road site ideal location for an active outdoor restaurant environment and trailhead.
The core of the design is a compound of buildings which form a casual outdoor dining courtyard opening onto the river and connecting to the trail system. Shade is provided through preserving existing trees and with outward opening overhead doors which become canopies when open. Materials such as corrugated metal, exposed wood and wall ventilation fans reflect the industrial vernacular historically found along the river and in the nearby rail yards.
