Project Description
The site is a protected inlet on the Peconic waterfront. The original house built in 1990 was a quirky building laden with nautical reference. An extensive renovation and expansion embraces the aspirations of its modernist character while extending the house to better engage its waterfront landscape. The curved forms of the original building are incorporated in an entry element connecting two pavilions that face each other across a swimming pool. One pavilion sits in the landscape and one is perched above a terrace where it frames a waterfront vista. Together these elements define a three-sided court, with the fourth side open to long views of the bay.
