Project Description

Developer Andrew Frey’s Tecela, a real estate development company whose mission is to help build the best urban neighborhoods, celebrated the completion of its latest urban infill new build in Little Havana this month. His recent project, 761 and 765 NW 1 Street in Miami’s Little Havana was designed by architect Jason Chandler, Florida International University’s chair of the architecture department.
Inspired by the brownstones of New York, townhouses of Boston, and culture and style of Miami, Tecela proudly unveiled the new project, marking the company’s second urban infill development in the neighborhood, each a low-rise multi-family housing project comprised of two townhouses each with four apartments.
“Projects and buildings like this can allow investment in neighborhood without demolition of context,” said Andrew Frey, Founder and Principal of Tecela. “We’re excited to bring investment of this scale, as we believe it promotes greater participation in neighborhood development and the greater distribution of wealth.”
Tecela secured lease tenant Stay Alfred, the leading provider of travel apartments since 2011, making it the hospitality brand’s 33rd domestic location. The lease was secured on May 31, which Stay Alfred occupied as of August 6.
Floor plans include studio, 1 bed/1 bath, 2 bed/2 bath and 3 bed/2 bath options. Each unit features the perfect fusion of travel accommodations with all the comforts and conveniences of home, including a full kitchen, in-unit laundry, and a sunny balcony. The property provides guests the chance to experience mouth-watering food, coffee, and culture of the neighborhood.
Tecela’s founder Andrew Frey, a thought leader, developer, zoning lawyer, educator, advocate, and winner of the ULI Southeast Florida Young Leader of the Year, is also Director of Development at Fortis Design + Build, where he oversees a team of development managers serving as fee developer for projects including Cube, Wynwood Walk and Palisociety.
