Project Description
The homeowner here was looking for a modern update to her home, beginning with the kitchen, which later became a catalyst for the rest of the home. The kitchen was a focal point of the house and was requested to be updated and made to feel more welcoming. The client, an artist, requested a neutral palette so she could highlight with accessories, including lights and brown base cabinets to really give that "pop" of color. We ran into a few significant challenges during the remodel. The existing plumbing had to be moved to accommodate the new and improved kitchen design which is quite common in remodel. The plumbing had to be moved within the soffits and floor areas, which allowed the kitchen to transform to more of an open concept for a better flow for both cooking and gathering. The homeowner added additional painting and electrical work which added extra time, as did the more elaborate lighting fixtures which significantly increased the lead time. The finished product was an exquisitely designed kitchen and our client was blown away. We added a larger oven with a hood vent that vented outside rather than recirculating in the home. The homeowner absolutely loved the custom display shelving as she now has a place to display her artwork. The new kitchen design has provided a better cooking and entertaining space while also creating shelving space for artwork which was the focus for our client. Designing a remodel for an artist can be quite challenging but at Denver Design Build, we too take an artistic approach to all our designs. The homeowner has since received many compliments on her new space that she is happily enjoying.
