With a mix of contemporary design and mountain rustic material construction, "The Shed" is the latest addition to a complement of creative amenities at Promontory Ranch Club Compound. Located in Park City Utah, the goal for this project was to create a central gathering place that residents of all ages could enjoy; and as the name implies, The Shed evokes a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Located at the western edge of the 7,500 acre community, the vision for this 16,000+ square foot building was brought to life by architect John Sather, of Scottsdale based Swaback Partners. A contemporary interpretation of an old mining shed, the design has been guided by the use of rugged, timeless materials; and a color pallet that connects the building with its surroundings. A roof of deep rust corten steel panels is punctuated with exposed structural steel columns. Exterior walls of rusted corrugated metal panels and board formed concrete are contrasted and complemented with vertical timbers, stone buttresses and custom store font windows. Using common materials in uncommon ways is a hallmark of The Shed and includes interior walls finished with exposed lath, a steel clad four-sided fireplace, and ceiling and walls finished in lath that was specially painted by the architects and interior designers.
Amenities that will surely appeal to pure family fun include a main gathering room, family dining, soda fountain, billiards and game room, 50-seat movie theatre, two lane bowling alley, a multi-purpose room for sports and community gatherings which opens out to an amphitheatre with seating for 500; a spacious view deck with spectacular vistas, raised fire pits and glass railings; and an arts and crafts studio for residents of all ages to enjoy. A truly unique mix of amenities set in a rustic contemporary framework that should create nothing short of memorable times.
