Project Description
Set in the heart of Boston’s Fenway neighborhood, the Verb is a two-story, 93-room, 35,000-square-foot boutique hotel that embodies an exuberant celebration of the fabled rock culture that began in Boston’s Fenway neighborhood in the 1960s. Design of the project included the restoration of the 1959 building that now houses The Verb – formerly a Howard Johnson’s Motor Lodge – as well as design of the hotel’s interiors and furniture. One of the newest components in the decade-long revitalization of the blocks surrounding Fenway Park, the Verb is a destination that appeals to a wide range of guests.
The Verb’s design can be summed up as “the rock heyday of the Fenway re-imagined for today’s guest.” The original site plan and bones of the 1959 motor inn created the sense of an oasis in the midst of the Fenway’s densely urban environment, and designers kept and enhanced those elements while creating a very contemporary space. The playful design has a sense of humor throughout – it’s a little provocative, a little nostalgic, a lot hip. The lobby features original rock memorabilia and classic rock albums; rooms offer retro-inspired lighting and furniture along with the latest hospitality comforts; all materials were inspired by historic mid-century color palettes and materials.
Quirky, irreverent, and more than a little tongue-in-cheek, The Verb reinterprets the vibrant, good-natured rock ‘n roll culture it celebrates with a spirited, authentic experience for today’s guest. Whether a family, business traveler, or hipster, there is something for everyone at The Verb.
