Project Description
The Whitefish Emergency Services Center is a new facility for the Fire Department, Police Department and Municipal Court facilities for the City of Whitefish. The building features five apparatus bays, turn-out gear room, decontamination room, dormitory for eight, kitchen, day-room, sallyport, evidence processing and storage, booking/processing room, holding cells, interview rooms, records storage, court room, judge’s chambers, kennel, armory, and shared fitness/training rooms. The design takes into account future growth for all departments and space for planned expansion. Space for Training by Design© elements has also been planned for the Fire Department. The building is located on a reclaimed site off of Flathead Ave. in the Baker Commons Development in Whitefish. Access to the building is off of Flathead Ave. for the majority of the traffic including Police, Fire, and the public. A private entrance access road for the Fire Department and Police is also off of Baker Ave.
The project was completed in 2010 in a collaborative manner, and is a great example of a project brought to completion by MT-Creative and a great learning project for everyone involved. In this project we were responsible for Design, Coordination, Management, Selections, Construction Oversight, and acted as the Principal Architects, working with three different departments within the City, each with unique requirements and personalities.
