Project Description
FROM THE RIBA ROYAL GOLD MEDAL AWARD, 2006:
For this project, great care was taken to harmonize the building with its relatively low, humanly-scaled environment. A small, grass-covered hill was created on this once level site to house the museum. Two large enclosed galleries are arranged on the first floor and covered with beams. On top of the hill, open spaces such as the entrance hall and a café are located beneath a lightweight, floating roof. The building was completed in 1991.
