Sustainability in the built environment advocacy organization, the International Living Future Institute (ILFI) has announced its updated and streamlined Net Zero Energy (NZE) Certification program for projects prioritizing renewable energy. Based on building performance data, NZE certifications provide third-party assessments of carbon neutral buildings.
The ILFI has simplified NZE certification applications by removing requirements such as "limits to growth, beauty, and inspiration and education," instead renewing the certification's purpose of verifying net-zero energy performance according to the ILFI website. While project sites no longer require an auditor visit, the certification still acts as a third-party reviewer of energy performance.
