Project Description
FROM ELEMENTAL:
The university site needed to fit 300 beds, social areas and services for the entire campus on a narrow lot. To ensure this, the firm did three things: created an area for public programs to introduce the first floor, shape the core volume and install social areas to articulate the perimeter, and increase the linear orientations of the façades to optimize the natural that hits it. To withstand the area’s harsh environment, the designers chose a sequence of heavy and rough materials for the exterior.
