Project Description
Overlooking the Mississippi River on a bluff top at the edge of a woods, the Maidenrock House fits comfortably into its prairie roots.
Designed by Carlsen & Frank Architects , the horizontal plan, a string of spaces, captures the views down river.
Inside, the view is experienced as from a sheltering grove, through trunks and branches symbolically expressed by the muntin pattern of windows and doors. Inside, etched glass screens separate spaces, playfully hinting at what is beyond.
Outside terraces, porch and walkways to a hot tub, sauna and garage allow unfiltered appreciation of the surroundings.
