Project Description
The custom residence is sited on a mid sized central city lot to take advantage of the prevailing cooling breezes and soar orientation in such a way as to maximize passive cooling in the summer and passive solar heat gain in the winter. Other sustainable strategies included are rainwater collection/ irrigation, gray water recovery, ventilated radiant barrier roof system, rigid foam wall and attic insulation, carefully sized roof overhangs, sealed attics, hydronic heating and a water based air-conditioning system that uses the swimming pool as a heat sink.
This custom remodel deserves an award for taking into account all of the surrounding materials that were used. This residence maintains a level of eloquence that is subtle and calming.
