After over four decades in the lighting industry, Doug Herst, head of Peerless Lighting and the Architectural Product Group for Acuity Brands, has retired. Herst’s family founded Peerless Lighting in 1892, managed by Herst since 1965 and acquired by Acuity Brands in 1999. With his retirement, Herst plans to develop property in Berkeley, California, and serve a number of charitable causes.
