Osram Sylvania has received the Primetime Emmy Engineering Award from The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in recognition of outstanding engineering development for its HMI metal halide lamp technology. Osram’s HMI lamps first debuted in a television broadcast in 1969 and have since become a mainstay of the television production industry, replacing natural sunlight in indoor studios and on exterior locations. The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences was impressed by the safety features of Osram’s lamps, according to John Leverence, senior vice president of awards for the Academy.
