The National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) recently honored eight colleges with the annual Excellence in Education Award for their high standards in kitchen and bath design instruction.
Each kitchen and bath design program entered two kitchen design projects completed by students for evaluations based on the NKBA’s Planning Guidelines and Graphic and Presentation Standards. The highest scoring schools (averaging at least 93 out of 100) were selected for awards. The winning colleges and their kitchen and bath design program coordinators are:
- Alexandria Technical College, Alexandria, Minn.—Betty Ravnik, CMKBD
- Brigham Young University-Idaho, Rexburg, Idaho—Wendy Harris, CKE, ASID
- Johnson County Community College, Overland Park, Kan.—Jan Cummings
- Lone Star College – Kingwood, Kingwood, Texas—Susan Ouren
- Lord Fairfax Community College, Middletown, Va.—Jeanne Nolan
- University of Georgia, Athens, Ga.—Jaya Rose
- University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg, Miss.—Claire L. Hamilton
- Weber State University, Ogden, Utah—Jan Slabaugh
