The Pulitzer Arts Foundation and the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis announced the second PXSTL design-build competition today.
PXSTL, a name derived from a combination of the organizations' and city's names, calls for a temporary installation designed for a lot in St. Louis's Grand Center arts district. The inaugural installation, called "Lots," was designed by New York-based Freecell Architecture and opened in May 2014.
It is an invited competition, and organizers plan on requesting nominees this month. The winner will be announced in spring of next year, and the installation will open in spring of 2017. Like the first one, the 2017 PXSTL installation will host programming developed by locals.
