The James Beard Foundation announced the winners of this year's Outstanding Restaurant Design Awards at a ceremony Monday. The foundation named winners in two categories—restaurants with 75 seats and under and those with 76 seats and over—from the nominees announced in March. Founding principals James Gorski and Tom Nahabedian of Chicago-based Bureau of Architecture and Design won the smaller restaurant category for their design of Brindille in Chicago. For the larger restaurant category, principal and founder Michel Abboud, Assoc. AIA, of New York's Soma Architects won for Workshop Kitchen + Bar in Palm Springs, Calif.

Brindille’s curved façade lends to subdued, intimate interior that complements the restaurant’s namesake tree-branch theme.
