Coopersburg, Pa.–based lighting controls company Lutron opened its ninth worldwide Commercial Experience Center in Manhattan, N.Y., earlier this week. Located in the NoMad neighborhood, the space showcases the company's technology in mock commercial and residential layouts, with an emphasis on Lutron's human-centric lighting controls and smart daylighting technology by recently acquired Ketra.
Lutron moved to its new location after almost a decade at 1 Penn Plaza in Midtown. Some of the company's other existing commercial centers are located in Washington, D.C., Toronto, and Irvine, Calif.
Lutron's New York Commercial Experience Center is open for visits by appointment only; Architectural Lighting attended the press preview as an invited guest of Lutron.
LutronThe entryway features an overhead lighting sculpture that can be activated to create a dynamic biophilic pattern on the floor below.
Lutron“The new center provides an immersive experience that reveals how lighting and controls can impact different space types and people’s sense of well-being,” Lutron executive vice president Scott Hanna said in a press release. “It gives them opportunities to enhance and foster the human experience.”
LutronThe 5,500-square-foot center was designed by local firm CookFox to meet the WELL Building Standard.
LutronLutron's Commercial Experience Center features private meetings areas as well as a training room for customers and specifiers.
LutronA mock hotel room is outfitted with Lutron's MyRoom lighting, temperature, and shade control system.
