Cornell University
Dagmar Richter, a principal of DR_D, will become chair of Cornell's Department of Architecture, effective July 1. Previously, she was a professor in UCLA's Department of Architecture and Urban Design, where she had taught since 1989. Richter has also held teaching positions at Harvard's GSD, the Rhode Island School of Design, the Cooper Union, and Columbia University.
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
Evan Douglis, the principal of Evan Douglis Studio, will become dean of Rensselaer's School of Architecture, effective Aug. 1. Previously, he was chair of the undergraduate department at Pratt Institute's School of Architecture. Before joining Pratt, Douglis was an assistant associate professor at Columbia University. In 2008, he was awarded a distinguished professorship by the City College of New York.
University of California, Berkeley
Jennifer Wolch will become dean of the UC College of Environmental Design, effective July 1. Previously, she was a professor of geography and urban planning at the University of Southern California. A leading scholar of urban analysis and planning, she was the founding director of USC's Center for Sustainable Cities and also the founding dean of graduate programs for the College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences.
University of Virginia
Kim Tanzer, a practicing architect and University of Florida architecture professor, will become dean of UVA's School of Architecture, effective July 1. An instructor at UF since 1988, Tanzer has also served as president of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture and was a co-founder and founding director of the Florida Community Design Center.
